Welcome back to Neil and Roz after an absence of several years. They fished at Vaux in a September week and landed 27 carp between them, 4 x 40lb-ers up to Roz’s 46lb (well done Roz – ladies rule!) and 12 x 30lb-ers up to Neil’s 38lb2oz (and he had the three other 40s), an average weight for the week of 31lb10oz. Nicholas and his three young sons aged 10, 12 and 14 fished at Vaux in August when they landed 12 carp between them, all using the Claw Rig and pop-ups over particles. 12yr old Owen’s 41lb7oz mirror was the last fish caught in the early hours of the last morning. Nick commented, ‘The boys enjoyed their first time fishing in France.’
An August week saw the return of Jason and Anthony, with wives, four children and two friends, when they landed a total of 14 carp, five 40s to 46lb8oz, six 30s and three 20s including ‘a peach of a koi’ at 21lb. Anthony commented, ‘I cannot express how great it is here. We had a cracking week, especially the kids. We will be back for sure’
Anthony also commented, ‘We paid our second visit to this amazing place which is really recommended to all! Although an attraction for fishing, it is also highly recommended for all generations. Our visits were for the whole family, including 4 young kids from 2-8. Loads to do in and around the area and a beautiful lake.

Martin caught 15 carp in a week of two halves; heavy rain until Tuesday was replaced by sunny weather. However, the fishing was consistent throughout the week. The biggest carp was a 42lb mirror along with some 30lb + commons and mirrors. Martin mainly used the swimmer rig with homemade baits and bright coloured pop ups
Chas doesn’t often fish his own lake, but he spent 3 ½ days and nights in April trying out his own new Balanced Claw Rig. Using bottom bait and small pop ups, he landed 19 carp, 6 x 40s, 9 x 30s, 2 x 20s and 2 under 20lb, most of them coming out during the night, the days being very hot. Trevor fished in August and banked 4 mirrors from 22lb to his PB of 51lb, 3 commons from 22lb-33lb and a koi at 15lb2oz on bottom baits and pop ups. He & Mary said that they had “a fantastic week. The accommodation was home from home, the lake and surroundings beautiful. "Listen to Chas and all his knowledge of the lake - it pays off!”.
Mark and Dave on a 2-week family holiday in July caught 30 carp between them, including a 17lb4oz koi, 9 20s, 12 30s, a 43lb12oz common and the lake record 62lb mirror, all on bottom baits or bottom baits with corn pop up. They commented that they “didn’t fish nights, only days when not out with the family, and all had a great two weeks”.
Martin, fishing in early May caught 11 carp, including 5 mirrors from 28lb to 52lb, and 6 commons from 14lb to 28lb, on various presentations including a single yellow pop up and snowman bottom baits. “My 3rd trip to Vaux and my new PB! A family fishing holiday caused Roz’s husband and sons to view her with pride when she caught almost as many carp on her own as the three of them put together. ’Mum outdid us all with over 600lb of fish – beginner’s luck!’. Since then she has banked three 40s up to 45lb8oz.
Penny is the current Ladies Lake Champion with her 47lb mirror. Fishing with Mick in an April week, they landed five 30s, three 20s and the 47lb using pop ups. She said, ‘great place to fish. However, found it hard, but always keep trying – it is usually worth it’ as she proved
Jayne is a previous Ladies Lake Champion with a 44lb1oz mirror banked during a 2-week August holiday with Mark. She said they “thoroughly enjoyed their stay and would be back again for sure”. And they were: a 2-week holiday every year for seven years
