 Terry  and Stephen arrived with their wives for a week in July. Weather was everything from blazing sun to thunder  storms so fishing was difficult, but they had 4 mirrors, 3 of them 30s up to  37lb, caught on zigs, pop-ups and corn and ‘Ronnie’ rigs, all, they said, in  excellent condition. They commented that “the  lake and facilities are immaculately maintained”.

 Tony, Brian and Geoff banked 4 mirrors up to Geoff’s PB of 45lb4oz, plus 2 pike, during their week in May.  They have been several times before and commented, “Les Vaux is a superb location.  One of the most beautiful lakes we’ve visited.  Every convenience is laid on in each swim.  The help Chas provides is invaluable, his knowledge is second to none”.

  John,  fishing in July and accompanied by Mal, landed 3 carp at 30lb+, 2 at 20lb+, with  2 commons under 20lb. Using combi rigs and  bottom baits he had 4 from the shallows and 3 from the lake centre. They have been many times before because, he said,  it is one of his wife’s favourite venues. “We wouldn’t keep coming back if we  weren’t happy”

 James and Richard experienced yet another cold weather week in March, but still managed to catch 9 carp up to a mirror of 44lb8oz.  They have visited 5 times and wrote, “always a joy to be here.  Recommend using the slow cooker for stews, etc.  We have eaten like kings!!  Thanks for making this a wonderful place to stay and fish – we just love coming back”

 Anthony, Jason & Dave banked 14 carp, 1 40lb mirror to Dave, 8 30s up to 39lbs and 5 20s..  They were caught on a variety of baits, Live System, bottom baits and white or pink pop ups. They made it a party of 10 with family members, including 4 children from 2 to 7.  They said, “the facilities were more than expected” and they “were 100% happy”.

 Kevin & young grandson Lewis banked 9 carp & many roach in a testing week in August with rain and water temperatures plummeting. Catch of the week came shortly after casting on Saturday, a 47lb mirror. Lewis favourite carp was a 16lb yellow Koi “The Gite was perfect for my family and ideal for our trips to the castle, water & theme parks in Fougeres”

Robert’s party of four anglers had a grand catch of 60 carp, mirrors and commons, during a week in September.  The catch included two x forties up to 43lb2oz, nineteen x thirties, twenty four x twenties and fifteen under 20lb.  The tactics they used were large beds of boilies with bottom baits over the top

James, who was the only angler in a party of two couples with their dogs on a 2-week holiday, banked six carp from 20lb to 39lb6oz.  ‘This was a holiday with fishing’ he said, continuing that the venue is ‘an excellent base for days out, quiet roads and plenty of wildlife, kingfishers, red squirrels, owls, buzzards and kites at the site - all had a great time’

John, Callum, Kenny and Stuart landed 9 mirrors 24-36lb8oz  and 7 commons 17-33lb8oz, all in great condition, during a week in June, most at  night as the days were hot and fish spawning. They  have been a few times and commented, “lovely lake and accommodation in lovely  part of France. Chas in great form, as ever, with loads of  advice and fishing stories, made us laugh every day”

 Terry and family returned for the 4th time in August, 6 adults, 2 children and Dizzy dog.  He wrote, “it really is a home from home.  Chas & Josie offered help and advice as required, but in a great way that allowed us to enjoy a bit of fishing and a bit of family time out and about”.  The 2 anglers banked 7 x 30s, 5 x 20s, 1 under 20lb and 1 mirror at 40lb.

Ged’s party arrived in July, a first visit for him to France.  He and Jay landed 9 carp up to 45lb and 4yr old Thomas had the 10th, a 27lb10oz common.  He wrote that he “really enjoyed the whole experience of fishing with the family” and “all we can recommend is to take Chas’s advice and don’t hesitate to ask him or Josie for anything you need”.

James and his family holidayed in June  when he caught 7 x 30s up to 38lb, 3 x 20s and 5 under 20lb.  He commented that it was his “first trip to France, a massive learning curve and he would have struggled if it had not been for Chas’s tips and advice.  Accommodation superb, really high standard, ideal venue for families, overall a great trip”.

Mark, Tom and Carl banked 37 fish at the end of May, 13 doubles, 15 x 20s, 7 x 30s, 1 x 40lb+ and the biggest mirror falling to Carl, at 53lb8oz, using wafters and balanced baits.  Mark commented, “Lovely week, wildlife unbelievable, Buddy friendly, but watch out for Chas!  He is helpful, friendly, generally a lovely man.  The facilities were more than expected”.

Derrick, Sharon and Martin arrived early season in April  when, fishing days only, they caught 7 carp up to 39lb plus a 20lb pike on small pop ups, PVA bag and stalking.  They commented that the facilities were “better than expected, pure luxury and you want for nothing.  Chas is spot on and knows his stuff so take heed and listen.  A great venue”.

Barry and Alison bagged 17 carp at the end of the year, including 8 30s, a 47lb8oz common and a 50lb4oz mirror, fishing days only and close to the far bank.  They said that “the fishing was great and the gite lovely and warm to come back to, the fish in great condition, a great little fishery with excellent facilities, well run and looked after”.

Trevor fished in August and banked 4 mirrors from 22lb to his PB of 51lb, 3 commons from 22lb-33lb and a koi at 15lb2oz on bottom baits and pop ups.  He & Mary said that they had “a fantastic week.  The accommodation was home from home, the lake and surroundings beautiful. "Listen to Chas and all his knowledge of the lake - it pays off!”.

Mark and Dave on a 2-week family holiday in July caught 30 carp between them, including a 17lb4oz koi, 9 20s, 12 30s, a 43lb12oz common and the lake record 62lb mirror, all on bottom baits or bottom baits with corn pop up.  They commented that they “didn’t fish nights, only days when not out with the family, and all had a great two weeks”.

Martin, fishing in early May caught 11 carp, including  5 mirrors from 28lb to 52lb, and 6 commons from 14lb to 28lb, on various presentations including a single yellow pop up and snowman bottom baits.  “My 3rd trip to Vaux and my new PB!  What a week.”  Read Martins fascinating story  “A Red Letter Week” available in our downloads area

Ben fished in the deeper water by the dam wall and caught 24 fish, commons & mirrors from 13lb to 44lb using a variety of CC Moore XXX  and Palatrax Almond boilies.  “A fabulous fortnight in August”, a 42lb two tone and a 44lb common which is my new PB, were the highlights, but I was delighted to catch one of the very colorful Koi in the lake”

In the same fortnight as Ben,  Kevin had what can only be described as a bagging up session! 66 fish! Fishing from the platform swim and stalking during the daytime in the shallows, Kevin was using chocolate spice boilies and pop ups, mainly on a modified withy pool rig set up. The various catches included a small plated mirror at only 12lb up to a 48lb mirror.

Five 40s and 12 30s out of a total of 46 carp graced the bank for Martin & Matt in September, both achieving PBs, Martin 42lb/Matt 47lb8oz, and beating their previous PBs also caught at Vaux.  “our third trip, each time surpasses expectations, accommodation great, fishing excellent – our only choice when booking a fishing holiday”.

11 year old dedicated angler Callum smashed his PB with a 42lb8oz mirror, plus a 37lb-er and four 20s up to 29lb.  With his dad, they managed a total of 36 carp between them, fishing only a couple of nights and some daytime hours in between family days out and time in the pool.  Dad said. “Best family fishing holiday we have had in France”.

During an August fishing holiday John and 13 year old Matt, accompanied by Angela and young Nathan, caught a 45lb common, 6 30s and 7 20s out of a total of 18 carp.  John commented, “Lovely venue. The fish were cruising due to high temperatures, a great opportunity to see some real lumps. Listen to Chas. His recommended rigs made the difference”.

Nick and John landed 19 carp including 4 30s up to 37lb5oz when they fished early season, using tiger nut topped fake corn, balanced baits or pink pop ups.  They were very happy with the facilities which were better than expected and said they “had a great week, plenty of fish” and “you should always listen to Chas, he knows this lake extremely well”.

A family fishing holiday caused Roz’s husband and sons to view her with pride when she caught almost as many carp on her own as the three of them put together. ’Mum outdid us all with over 600lb of fish – beginner’s luck!’. Since then she has banked three 40s up to 45lb8oz.

Penny is the current Ladies Lake Champion with her 47lb mirror.  Fishing with Mick in an April week, they landed five 30s, three 20s and the 47lb using pop ups.  She said, ‘great place to fish. However, found it hard, but always keep trying – it is usually worth it’ as she proved

Jayne is a previous Ladies Lake Champion with a 44lb1oz mirror banked during a 2-week August holiday with Mark.  She said they “thoroughly enjoyed their stay and would be back again for sure”.  And they were:  a 2-week holiday every year for seven years
