Our 17th season in 2020 ran for a short six weeks and, sadly, as yet we have not been able to welcome any anglers in this our 18th season. The uncertainty continues and we can only hope that the vaccination programmes will prove to be the answer to overcoming the virus so that borders can be re-opened once again. We are still here waiting patiently, sometimes very impatiently, (but also very thankful that we are still here) for the positive announcements from the powers that be signalling that we can begin to pick up our lives again. Very best wishes to all of you and please continue to stay safe.
Well, here we are, in the second year of the coronavirus pandemic and, sadly, in all that time we have only been able to welcome anglers for six of those weeks. None of us know when the border restrictions will be fully lifted, but we live in hope that we will be seeing those of our loyal friends and those anglers new to the lake who have booked for later this year, many of you having already transferred from 2020.
However, we have not been idle and a good deal of work has continued throughout this period. The paths around the lake have been re-sanded and levelled to give continuing access for wheelchair users. A large number of the biggest trees have been removed from both sides of the lake which has made the swims, on the left-hand side, larger overall. There are, of course, several more benefits to their removal: the problem of falling acorns has been alleviated, safety improved with no chance of falling branches and a big difference for anglers who prefer to cast. There is only one small area now where there are trees overhanging the lake. Finally, large clumps of the pampas type grasses have been removed from the lake making quite a sizeable difference to the open water.
We hope it won’t be long before we see you all again
